‘THE SEAS GUARDIAN’
The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society
Defending Marine Life Since 1977
Sea Shepherd is an international non-profit organization dedicated to marine conservation. Founded in 1977 by Captain Paul Watson (a former member of Greenpeace), its mission is to protect the world’s oceans through direct action and intervention campaigns against illegal fishing, whale hunting, marine pollution, and other threats to ocean biodiversity.
Unlike many environmental organizations, Sea Shepherd is known for its active and confrontational approach, using patrol ships, satellite technology, and collaboration with local authorities to stop environmental crimes on the high seas.
Global Presence, Real Impact
With a fleet known as Neptune’s Navy, Sea Shepherd has operated in over 40 countries, working alongside governments in Africa, Latin America, and Asia to protect vulnerable marine areas and endangered species such as the vaquita, minke whales, and hammerhead sharks.
